As seen in issue 239 of 100% Biker

It would wrong not to say I like the Bad Wabbits , who have the perfect ethos for a group, a mixed bunch of folk, some who ride bikes, some who don’t and all who just want to have a good time.

They were formed in 2011 and have held a shindig every year since, and it’s always been a relaxed and warm welcome and usually has an ace cake stall rude not to attend then. This year the shindig was raising funds for Macmillian Cancer fund and there was a £5 donation for entry which all seemed happy to dig deep for.

Having pulled up no sooner had I put the side stand down than I was greeted by so many folk I haven’t seen in a while. Me being me I haven’t a clue on half their names, but does that really matter. I eventually managed to get off my bike after about 5 minutes.

Following on from a comment I made on a previous show there was a little light afternoon music with an acoustic session which helped in the relaxed feel. And despite the threat of inclemency after days of hot weather there was still an ace turn out, so much so that a second part of the field was soon filling up.

The villagers were there again with their eclectic mix of vehicles and a cool miniature steam engine, the real sized one unable to attend as had gone bang at a show previously. As ever the range of vehicles on site ranged from on Yamaha 50cc to a glorious 1934 Harley Davidson model r bobber which shouted ride me.

Thinking of minor incidents one of the nicest bikes on the scene is a lovely BSA A65 LCS2 which I was pleased to see next to the original which I have always had a huge soft spot for. Now both of these bikes are used in anger and enthusiastically and only just a couple of days before the show for LCS2 the exhaust had decided to part company with the rest of the bike. As the exhaust head bracket was all hand cut from brass it was looking a bit sorry for itself but great to see folk not ashamed to use bikes.

Having chatted for ages it seemed time for a cuppa and cake, shock horror no cake and run out of cups for tea, so a fizzy drink it had to be.

Throughout the afternoon various soft toys emerged on the wabbits bikes from a charity stall and this only added to the relaxed family atmosphere, I told you they were a relaxed bunch.

Unfortunately the threatened rain did start to come over and so I made polite excuses and headed off homewards missing the awards, which this year was smart and pocketable. If there was an award for bike I would want to ride mush as I loved the 34 Harley it had to be LCS1 which is high on my dream bike list
